Grief and Loss
Grief is the human response to loss.
Many people think it is our response to death, but grief can affect us for many reasons.
You may experience a grief response when you are facing:
- loss of health.
- loss of a job
- loss of a family through divorce, relocation or estrangement.
- loss of a home or lifestyle.
- loss of dreams for how you imagined your life.
- loss of faith.
Grief can affect your thoughts, your body, your emotions, your
spirituality, your sense of self, or your social interactions.
Each grief experience is unique and can be affected by your current life circumstances, your previous experience, the support you have around you, and by what else is going on in your life. Grief is not an orderly or logical process. It has its own timetable and can be capricious, disorienting and messy.
You may have people who would like to help but find it hard to
listen
to you, don’t know what to say, what they say is not helpful
or they “just don’t get it.”
I have companioned many people on their walk on the grief road. I will listen compassionately, wait patiently, help you understand the value in lamenting, and accompany you where your grief takes you.
